Yesterday’s Sport News

Yesterday, the Detroit Tigers finished their short, miserable season in last place. The Houston Astros made it to the playoffs again, but Justin Verlander won’t pitch. He’s undergoing surgery and will miss this post season and the entire 2021 season. He’s 37 and I wonder if he’ll return to baseball when he’s healed up.

So, I’m torn between whether I’ll root for the Astros or the Chicago White Sox. Guess I’ll pull for both and see how far they get. But if the Astros and the White Sox both win the ALWS, they’ll face each other in the ALDS and I’ll really be torn.

The Detroit Lions won yesterday and Team Penske’s drivers finished in 7th, 13th and 14th place for NASCAR and 1st and 7th place for IMSA.

69 Chevelle

UPDATE: The Chevelle is from Fred.

I still don’t know who sent the DeLorean, which I got back in July.

So, again I get a mysterious box in the mail. This time it’s a 1969 Chevy Chevelle SS. I’m not sure who it’s from. The senders name and address is on the box. But I don’t recognize the name and it’s a Webster New York address, and I’m guessing this is just where the car was ordered from.

The Chevelle is pretty cool and it’s a bit heavier than my other cars. It also feels stronger. I was planning to get a 69 Chevelle at some point. Now I won’t have to. If it was you who sent it, thank you.

Tractors

Yesterday, we had a birthday party for my great nephew Ezra, at my mom and dad’s house. This was my gift to him. He really has developed a love for tractors since I introduced him to John Deere last Christmas. Several of his toys are tractors. He even has one of those battery powered tractors that he rides around my mom and dad’s yard. The battery powered tractor has a trailer and he could help with the yardwork. I figure, you learn tractors and how to operate them, there’s a lot you can do.

P.S.

Today, while looking for markets to submit a couple stories to, I saw that two markets I had submitted to for years are now expecting writers to pay fees when they submit stories. I’m a firm believer that the money should always flow to the writer, not the other way around. I will not pay to play.

It’s hard enough making a buck doing this, why should writers have to pay for editors to consider their work? Whenever I come across a market that charges reading fees, I’m tempted to chew them out over it.

Never pay reading fees. They’re rip offs.
