Coronavirus

The way they’re reporting about Coronavirus, you would think the apocalypse is underway. Those of us, myself included, who aren’t worried about the virus… what if we’re wrong?

2 Thoughts to “Coronavirus”

  1. Fred

It’s more deadly to the elderly and people with weak immune systems. It is spreading fast too. I sure don’t want dad to catch it.

My opinion is if the Trump administration is trying to downplay the seriousness of this virus, then something must be really wrong.

  2. Yeah, I know that about the elderly and people with weak immune systems.

I was just talking to Q about it on Facebook last night, where I posted the same thing.:

He asked me, “What would it take for you to be worried?”

I told him, “I don’t know. Maybe if Coronavirus was something like Krippin Virus, I’d be very worried.”

    And this followed:

Edward Ellis: Okay, for discussion, lets review the two 🙂
KV at first appeared to be effective with no side-effects

CoVid-19 appears to be just like a flu with no after effects

over time, the KV began to mutate and cause rabies-like symptoms in its hosts.

A second strain of Covid-19 (a disease with no vaccine, no treatment and no known transmission information) has appeared

The virus breaks out in December 2009. How the virus escaped from the laboratory is unclear.

CoVid-19 broke out of Wuhan and is infecting people that haven’t travelled, haven’t been in contact with people that travelled and still got sick

Despite the military’s best efforts to contain KV, it eventually mutated into a lethal new strain of measles with a 90% kill rate, and went airborne.

The number of infections of Covid-19 is skyrocketing with 500 confirmed cases since Jan 2020 and 22 confirmed deaths from it…there is no containment of this since people that should be in quarantine are deciding they do not want to be in quarantine and are out and about.

Rob Darnell: If CV isn’t just another thing that’s going around, perhaps this is the coming of the apocalypse.

So far it seems like all those that have died from CV were people who were already in poor health. At least that’s how I’m understanding it.

But I don’t think I’ve heard of a case of CV where the patient overcame the virus, either because the patient was cured or the virus ran its course. There might be stories about people overcoming CV, I just haven’t seen any.

Another thought. If a person overcomes CV, do we know for certain that he’s not still carrying and transmitting the virus, even though he no longer has the symptoms?

I agree that there is a lot we don’t know about CV. But it’s still nothing compared to the flu. Maybe if CV claims as many lives as the flu does, I’ll be more concerned about it. But I don’t really worry about the flu either.

Remember the swine flu scare? I guess I think of Coronavirus in about the same way I think of swine flu. It was a lot of panic over something that wasn’t that bad. But I think CV has already done more damage than the swine flu had.

Edward Ellis: A few points for discussion

The flu kills 700k/yr with a vaccine, treatment and known transmission method…That’s 3x the population of a mid size city

CV, we have none of those

We agree on a lot, so that’s cool

    Panicking is not the answer

    My angle is prevention

I come in contact with the target demographic with about 30% of the people I met daily

I come on contact with people that meet the other 60% regularly

I could have it for two weeks and not know but still be infecting others

I don’t have to worry, you don’t have to worry but by not worrying or taking precautions….we run the risk of killing others easily

Rob Darnell: I do wash my hands a lot. It’s a habit I picked up years ago, mostly because I’m self conscious about my personal hygiene. Sometimes I wash my hands too much and my skin burns.

But “wash your hands”, in my opinion, is weak when we’re talking about a fast spreading virus. To me, “wash your hands” is like “duck and cover” from the Cold War era. Is it really going to do anything?

And I keep asking myself, “when are we supposed to wash our hands?” Every time we touch something or someone? That just seems unrealistic.

I’m all for prevention and awareness, but I think the media is overplaying it, and there is panic.

What I said last week: “I know Coronavirus is real, I know it’s bad, I know it has killed people and I know it’s spreading. But I’m not terribly worried about it. I think it’s just another thing that’s going around. I certainly hope I don’t catch it, but if I do, I don’t think it’ll kill me.

I think most people who catch it will get through it. Compared to the flu, Coronavirus is small potatoes.”

    But maybe I’m wrong.
