The End of the Tigers 2019

Well, the Tigers finished their season today. I didn’t see the game, I was at my mom and dad’s watching the Lions. But I checked the score when I got home and see the Tigers lost. I was hoping they could win one more.

This was a rough season and the Tigers finished in last place, so they won’t be in the playoffs. As usual, I’m a bit sad that another Tiger season has ended. I look forward to Spring Training 2020.

I’m rooting for Justin Verlander & the Astros in the playoffs. The Astros finished in first place again. They will play either Tampa Bay or Oakland in the ALDS, depending on who wins the wildcard game. The ALDS starts October 4.

‘Twas A Fine Sunday

Today we celebrated my great nephew Ezra’s first birthday. It was just a small gathering at Mom and Dad’s. I got Ezra’s a real baseball. I know he’s a bit young to play baseball, but I thought if I put a baseball in his hands early, he might come to love the game.

I had put the ball down on the table at my mom and dad’s and moved on. I guess someone handed it to Ezra, because a few minutes later they’re telling me, “He loves it, Robert. He’s smiling.”

I looked over. Anthony was holding Ezra. Ezra had the ball in one hand and he was holding it out toward me. I didn’t know he would have such a good one-hand grip on it yet. I hope he doesn’t start throwing fastballs around the house before he’s two.

Ezra unwrapped some presents, and then my dad and I watched the Lions. The Lions won and they are now one tie and two wins into the season. After the game, I went out to my hunting ground to look at my tower.

The blind on my tower was torn to pieces. So, I took the top part of the tower off. This year I’ll hunt with nothing over my head. I’ll hang camouflage netting from the rails of the tower, but that’ll be it.

Crap

Know what I didn’t think to do yesterday? DVR the game. I wonder if I might’ve seen myself on TV. At one point, a fly ball came our way and everyone reacted to it. I couldn’t see it, so I kind of freaked out and ducked behind the guy in front of me.

Tigers in Detroit

This is the most beautiful place on Earth and I was thrilled to be there again. Too many years have gone by since I last set foot in this park.

I just got home from the game. The Tigers didn’t win, but it was still great to be there. I’m grateful to my friend Brooke and her husband Tony for getting us all tickets. I had been wanting to go to a game for a very long time. It was me, my sister Nicole and my brother Fred, Brooke and Tony and their kids. The group might have been bigger, but a few people were unable to go.

It rained quite a bit in the middle of the game. They stopped the game for a while and had the tarp over the infield. A few people stayed out in the rain and waited it out, my sister and I among them, but most went up to the higher seats where there is a roof. I’m a hunter, I sit out in the rain a lot, so this wasn’t a big deal for me, especially when it was a warm day.

Well, I checked, and I see the Lions won today. They ended with a tie last week, but they didn’t lose. So, we can say that, so far, the Lions have not lost a game this season.

Go Blue!

Michigan just beat Texas Tech 15-3. There’s one more series for the College World Series. If they win two out of three of those games, they’re the champions.

Game 1 of the CWS Finals will be Monday evening. They’ll play either Vanderbilt or Louisville.

Tigers at 7.

I love baseball.

Steak & Baseball

If you’re not too far from Brown City, I recommend getting your steaks from the Brower Farms. These are good thick cuts. I have trouble finding satisfying cuts at the grocery store. Besides, I keep hearing about recalls on food that comes from the grocery store.

The Tigers are playing the Twins right now. At 9, Michigan will play UCLA in Game 1 of the NCAA Baseball Tournament. So, it’s a night of baseball.
