American League Wildcard

The American League wildcard game starts in an hour. The Tampa Bay Rays and the Oakland Athletics. In this game, I’m rooting for Oakland. I don’t have anymore shelled peanuts, but I have plenty of beer. Don’t worry, I won’t be hungry, ’cause I’m cooking pork chops.

The Brewers did not win last night, so the Nationals will face the Dodgers in the NLDS.

The End of the Tigers 2019

Well, the Tigers finished their season today. I didn’t see the game, I was at my mom and dad’s watching the Lions. But I checked the score when I got home and see the Tigers lost. I was hoping they could win one more.

This was a rough season and the Tigers finished in last place, so they won’t be in the playoffs. As usual, I’m a bit sad that another Tiger season has ended. I look forward to Spring Training 2020.

I’m rooting for Justin Verlander & the Astros in the playoffs. The Astros finished in first place again. They will play either Tampa Bay or Oakland in the ALDS, depending on who wins the wildcard game. The ALDS starts October 4.

Crap

Know what I didn’t think to do yesterday? DVR the game. I wonder if I might’ve seen myself on TV. At one point, a fly ball came our way and everyone reacted to it. I couldn’t see it, so I kind of freaked out and ducked behind the guy in front of me.

Tigers in Detroit

This is the most beautiful place on Earth and I was thrilled to be there again. Too many years have gone by since I last set foot in this park.

I just got home from the game. The Tigers didn’t win, but it was still great to be there. I’m grateful to my friend Brooke and her husband Tony for getting us all tickets. I had been wanting to go to a game for a very long time. It was me, my sister Nicole and my brother Fred, Brooke and Tony and their kids. The group might have been bigger, but a few people were unable to go.

It rained quite a bit in the middle of the game. They stopped the game for a while and had the tarp over the infield. A few people stayed out in the rain and waited it out, my sister and I among them, but most went up to the higher seats where there is a roof. I’m a hunter, I sit out in the rain a lot, so this wasn’t a big deal for me, especially when it was a warm day.

Well, I checked, and I see the Lions won today. They ended with a tie last week, but they didn’t lose. So, we can say that, so far, the Lions have not lost a game this season.

Go Blue!

Michigan just beat Texas Tech 15-3. There’s one more series for the College World Series. If they win two out of three of those games, they’re the champions.

Game 1 of the CWS Finals will be Monday evening. They’ll play either Vanderbilt or Louisville.

Tigers at 7.

I love baseball.

Steak & Baseball

If you’re not too far from Brown City, I recommend getting your steaks from the Brower Farms. These are good thick cuts. I have trouble finding satisfying cuts at the grocery store. Besides, I keep hearing about recalls on food that comes from the grocery store.

The Tigers are playing the Twins right now. At 9, Michigan will play UCLA in Game 1 of the NCAA Baseball Tournament. So, it’s a night of baseball.

I Wasn’t Prepared to Hunt Today

I hunted Thanksgiving morning, but didn’t see anything. I didn’t hunt yesterday because my brother, my nephew and me were helping my dad put up a storage shed. We didn’t finish yesterday, so I wasn’t planning to hunt today either. I didn’t take my hunting gear over to Mom and Dad’s today.

We called it a day on the shed at around 2 PM. I went out to my hunting ground to put down some carrots and swap the trail camera’s memory card. That was all I was going to do today.

I got back to the house. We had the Michigan-Ohio State game on., which I had planned to watch today. The Buckeyes are Michigan’s most hated foe. I rarely miss the Michigan-Ohio State games. I get very emotional during these games and often lose my temper.

Michigan fans see the Buckeyes the same way the Red Sox see the Yankees. The rivalry isn’t just for fun,  we have very dark feelings for each other. Each wishes the other would fall off the edge of the Earth.

I put the camera’s memory card in the computer. I was looking through the pictures that the camera took over the last couple days and I saw this.

The clock says 6:14 AM, but the clock is wrong. The camera got a picture of me when I was swapping the memory card, so I was able to figure out that this picture was actually taken around 4:30 PM yesterday.

The picture is a little blurry, but I think the buck is at least ten-points. He’s big, too. When I zoom in, I can see how fat he is. My guess is, he weighs more than 200 pounds, maybe close to 300 pounds. This might be that massive deer I saw a couple years ago.

If I had been out there yesterday and assuming the buck didn’t detect me, he would have been right in my line of fire. He posed for this picture in the exact spot that I want the deer to be when I shoot it.

So, when the Buckeyes scored again and things weren’t looking good for Michigan, I decided I’d rather be hunting. I had my kill tags in my wallet and I borrowed an old orange hunting vest that my dad has. I didn’t want to use buckshot and we only had 20 gauge slugs. So, I used my brother’s old break-action 20 gauge. He left it behind when he moved out of my mom and dad’s house.

The barrel on my brother’s 20 gauge is about a foot longer than the barrel on my 20 gauge, and I reckon it gets better distance. But I didn’t see any deer today. I’m going to try getting out there tomorrow morning. The trail camera has gotten several pictures of bucks, mostly six and eight-points. I’d be happy with either of those. But that fat, ten-point buck, that’s the one I really want.
